Meet the Team
Chris Robert
FOUNDER & CERTIFIED GUT HEALTH COACH
Chris’s path into gut health began out of necessity. In his twenties, he was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and told that medication or surgery were the only options. He chose a different route. Through a committed, natural approach, he became symptom-free and medication-free. That experience sparked a deeper purpose: helping others achieve the same level of freedom.
Early in his journey, Chris recognised the limitations in the support available for chronic gut conditions. Many people were being managed, but not truly supported. This inspired him to build a service that listens, educates and empowers those who feel stuck or overlooked.
Today, Chris supports people struggling with IBD, IBS, SIBO and persistent digestive symptoms. His work focuses on simplifying gut health through a clear framework built around nutrition, mindset and lifestyle. The aim is always the same — to help clients overcome symptoms, rebuild confidence and take back control of their health.
What sets Chris apart within the team is his lived experience combined with structured coaching. He understands both the emotional and physical side of chronic gut issues and helps clients move forward with clarity, consistency and accountability.
Chris is a registered member of the UK & International Health Coaching Association (UKIHCA), the professional body that sets standards for ethical, evidence-informed health coaching practice. His membership reflects a commitment to ongoing professional development, a clear scope of practice and client-centred care.
Alongside his client work, Chris is building The Gut Coach into a wider platform that provides expert guidance, accessible education and long-term support for those ready to change.
Outside of work, Chris enjoys the outdoors, cooking, and a slower pace of life in Suffolk, where he lives and runs the business.
Christina Mattsson
REGISTERED NUTRITIONAL THERAPIST (DipCNM, mBANT)
Christina brings extensive clinical expertise in nutrition and functional gut testing to the team. Her interest in nutrition began through her own health journey, including childhood eczema, asthma and allergies, and later a coeliac diagnosis in her twenties. That turning point transformed her health and deepened her belief in the healing power of food.
After a successful corporate career and becoming a mother, Christina retrained as a Nutritional Therapist and has been supporting clients since 2018. She has worked with people of all ages experiencing a wide range of digestive concerns, from bloating and IBS to IBD and chronic inflammation.
Christina believes that while digestive symptoms are common, they are not normal. Her approach is highly personalised and food-first, taking time to understand the full picture behind each client’s symptoms. She creates realistic, structured plans that may include dietary adjustments, targeted supplementation, lifestyle changes and functional testing where appropriate.
She trained at the College of Naturopathic Medicine in London and has undertaken further education with the Institute for Functional Medicine. Christina has also worked within GP practices and functional clinics alongside doctors in both the UK and Sweden.
Christina is a registered member of the British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine (BANT), the professional body for Nutritional Therapists in the UK. Her membership ensures she adheres to strict professional standards, continuous training and evidence-based clinical practice.
Her role within The Gut Coach is to bring clinical precision and deep nutritional insight to every protocol created.
Outside of work, Christina is a nature-loving Swede with a passion for morning swims, good food and quality time with loved ones. Having lived abroad for 25 years, including 13 in the UK, she now calls Sweden home once again.
